This set pairs two Stepping Square shelves with a Perch Bed, hand-built to order and mounted on hand-made iron brackets. Because every set is made to order, color and wood texture vary slightly from piece to piece, no two ever look quite alike.

Each shelf takes a soft custom cushion or a cozy carpet top, held in place with heavy-duty decorative upholstery tacks rather than staples, which is what keeps the covering secure through repeated jumping and scratching rather than working loose over a few months. The bed insert is a supportive foam encased in matching cozy fabric. Everything is finished with a satin polyurethane coat. Installed into studs or with wall anchors, the shelves and bed are rated to hold up to 40 lbs securely.

You choose the finish at checkout, from 8 primary colors and 10 bed/carpet combinations.

How is the cushion or carpet actually attached, will it come loose over time? +

It's set with heavy-duty decorative upholstery tacks, not staples or glue. Tacks hold up far better under repeated jumping and scratching, which is exactly the stress a wall shelf sees daily.

Do I need a stud, or will wall anchors alone hold the weight? +

Both work for the full 40 lb rating, studs or properly rated wall anchors. If you have the option, a stud gives you the most margin, but anchors are a legitimate install method here.

What does the satin polyurethane finish actually do? +

It seals the wood, adding durability and a small amount of water resistance so the finish holds up to normal household wear rather than raw wood exposed to daily contact.
