"The 2-inch thick base is the engineering decision I want to call out on this one. Most cat trees put weight in the posts or platforms -- which means the center of gravity is high and the tree wants to tip. We put the weight in the base, where it belongs. A 20 x 20 solid wood base over 2 inches thick is not going to tip when a 20-pound cat launches off the upper tub. The notches cut into the tub walls are the other detail worth understanding: they create an internal staircase so the cat moves from the 12-inch lower tub to the 28-inch upper tub through the structure, not around it. That's a better climbing experience and puts less lateral stress on the posts."

What's the advantage of the notched tubs? +
The notches create an internal pathway between levels, so cats move through the structure rather than having to jump from the outside of one tub to the top of the next. This is lower-impact, reduces the lateral force on the posts, and works better for older or heavier cats.
Is solid wood really that different from particle board for a cat tree? +
Yes -- significantly. Particle board absorbs moisture and degrades under the pressure of repeated impacts, especially at joint points. Solid wood maintains its structural integrity over years of use. It's heavier, which contributes to stability, and it doesn't develop the creaking looseness that particle board trees develop over time.
Will this fit in a corner without modification? +
Yes -- the 20 x 20 square footprint places cleanly in a standard 90-degree corner. The tubs extend outward from the corner, maximizing the vertical territory without the base protruding into the room.
Can a 20-pound cat use this safely? +
Absolutely. The 2-inch thick base and solid wood frame are built specifically for large breeds. The 17-inch tubs accommodate a Maine Coon or Ragdoll fully stretched out.

The 32-inch Double Tub Cat Tree is sturdy, extremely well-constructed and attractive. An excellent compact size for a living room corner, without being overwhelming. Prompt shipping and a big plus is that it comes fully assembled. Kitten approved.

This double tub cat tree is exactly as described. Measurements made it easy for me to decide the room location. The grey carpet is plush and very nice color. Having it fully assembled when taking out of the shipping box is exactly what I needed. I will definitely order another type of tree as long as fully assembled. Very pleased with construction and material used!

This is a great medium size cat lounger - perfect height for looking out the window. Fits our larger cat and still cozy for our smaller cat. Nicer carpet (thicker weave) compared to most cat loungers you find at local pet stores. Built very solid - yet still easy to move from one room to another. I like the rounded, offset beds - cats like the shape and the offset allows for easy access even for our older cat.
