What makes this a "large breed" tree versus a standard cat tree? +
Three things: platform size, post diameter, and base footprint. Most standard cat trees are designed around an 8-10 pound cat. Large breed trees have to account for cats up to 20+ pounds with correspondingly longer bodies, wider strides, and greater jumping force. The platforms here are sized so a fully grown Maine Coon or Ragdoll can stretch out completely, not just perch on the edge. The posts are thicker diameter solid wood to prevent any flex at height.
How does the 40oz carpet compare to what I'd find on a budget tree? +
Budget trees typically use 10-20oz carpet -- the same weight you'd find in a commercial hallway. 40oz is household-grade, the weight used in living rooms and bedrooms built to last under daily foot traffic. For a cat tree, this means the carpet doesn't pill, mat, or separate from the wood after a few months of scratching and kneading. It also provides a noticeably more cushioned surface for resting.
My cat has never used a cat tree before. Will they take to this? +
Most cats take to new furniture more readily when it's placed near a window or beside existing furniture they already use. Vertical territory is instinctive -- cats want high vantage points. If your cat is hesitant at first, try placing a familiar blanket or a small amount of catnip on the lower platform. Give them a few days to investigate at their own pace before expecting them to climb to the top.

Hand-built in the USA, to order. This is part of what distinguishes the Signature Line -- each unit is built when ordered, not warehoused by the thousands. The people building these have decades of furniture construction experience. That shows in the joint quality, the carpet finishing, and the overall structural integrity in a way that mass production simply can't replicate.
What's the realistic lifespan of this tree with daily use? +
With normal use, 8-12 years is realistic. The solid wood frame doesn't degrade the way particle board does -- it won't swell, warp, or crumble. The carpet may show wear in high-scratch zones after several years, but the structure underneath remains sound. Some customers have re-carpeted their Signature Line trees rather than replace them, which speaks to the frame quality.

I could not be happier with our new cat post! It arrived in great condition, was so easy to put together, and is an amazing light grey color! The carpet is so thick and high quality- better than any post I’ve seen. The best part is that we were able to get every post wrapped in rope, which makes the post so much more durable and lasting. I feel like we got the best post possible, and although we paid more for it, it is worth every penny we paid.

Arrived in excellent condition and arrived sooner than anticipated. Quite sturdy. There are several cats (semi-feral) behind my house and, yes, I feed them. I have put this outside on the porch and the cats took to it right away. My son put it together for me and I told him it was supposed to be quick and easy. He said "Sure, mom." It was very quick and easy and since he never commented on its difficulty, I have to figure it wasn't difficult. Am very pleased with this purchase and will order from this company again. The item is as presented and quite well made.
