Dual wide perches, a central enclosed retreat, and heavy-duty construction — serious cat furniture that doesn't require ceiling clearance.

"A question I hear constantly from large-cat owners is: I want something built for my cats, but I don't have the ceiling height — or the living room — for a six-foot tower. This is the product I reach for in that situation. At 53 inches with a 30-inch base, it delivers genuine large-cat durability and a central enclosed condo without dominating the room. The dual 19-inch perches are what sealed it for me — two large cats can occupy the top of this structure simultaneously without sharing a surface, which is rare at this height. It's the tower I'd choose for a two-cat household in an apartment, and I've yet to find a better option at this footprint."

Signature Line Spotlight

This item is part of our premiere collection: No MDF or Particle Board. Hand-built to order in the USA using sturdy wood, plush household-grade carpet, and natural unoiled sisal rope. Built by furniture experts committed to professional-grade durability.

The Cat's Choice 53" Double Perch Cat Tree with Condo and Scratch Ramps is built for the large-cat household that needs serious construction without a towering footprint. The design centers on three distinct zones — a ground-level base with full sisal post sections for scratching, a central enclosed condo for privacy and retreat, and dual 19-inch round perches at the top for simultaneous lounging. The 30" x 20" weighted base keeps all 63 lbs planted at every level, so the structure handles active jumping and climbing from heavy cats without flex or sway.

The centrally positioned condo is a deliberate design choice — elevated enough that cats inside feel secure rather than exposed, yet low enough that it functions as a mid-tower rest stop between the base and the top perches. The 6" x 8" entry opening and 16.5" interior diameter are sized for larger cats to enter and turn comfortably. Two sisal-wrapped posts flank the structure from base to condo platform, providing a full-stretch vertical scratching surface that redirects cats away from furniture effectively. All surfaces throughout are finished in plush household-grade carpet for traction and warmth.

Built from solid wood with no MDF or particle board, this tower is designed for years of daily use. The compact 30-inch base footprint makes it a practical choice for apartments and rooms where a taller tower isn't feasible, without compromising on the construction quality that large cats require.

Frequently Asked Questions

Who is this tower best suited for compared to a taller 6-foot option? +

This tower is the right choice when you need large-cat construction quality but don't have the ceiling clearance, floor space, or living room aesthetic for a 72-inch tower. At 53 inches it still provides meaningful elevation and a full enclosed condo, but with a footprint and profile that works in apartments and smaller rooms. It's also a strong choice for households with older or less agile cats who climb actively but prefer not to navigate extreme heights.

Can two large cats use the top perches at the same time? +

Yes — that's the specific intent of the dual perch design. Each 19-inch round perch with 4-inch raised edges gives a large cat its own complete lounging surface. At 43.5 inches across, the two perches are far enough apart that cats can rest simultaneously without encroaching on each other's space. This is one of the key reasons this design works well for two-cat households — each cat gets an identical top-level perch with no status hierarchy between them.

Why is the condo positioned in the middle rather than at the base? +

A ground-level condo can feel exposed to cats in busy households — too close to foot traffic and other pets. Positioning the condo at mid-height gives cats inside a sense of elevation and protection simultaneously. They can observe the room through the entry opening while remaining enclosed, which is the combination most cats find genuinely restful. It also breaks up the climbing path naturally, giving cats a reason to pause at mid-level rather than bypassing it entirely for the top perches.

Is the condo entry opening large enough for a Maine Coon? +

The entry opening is 6" wide by 8" tall, and the interior is 16.5" in diameter. This is comfortably sized for most large breeds including Maine Coons — their shoulder width typically runs 6–7 inches, so the opening gives adequate clearance. The 16.5" interior gives them room to enter, turn, and settle. We do recommend this condo for cats up to approximately 18–20 lbs; for exceptionally large Maine Coons over 20 lbs, the 72" tree house with its larger ground condo may be the better fit.

How does solid wood construction affect longevity compared to standard cat trees? +

Standard cat trees use MDF or particle board because it's inexpensive to manufacture — but both materials degrade under the specific stresses of cat furniture: repeated impact from jumping, moisture exposure, and constant carpet tension on screws. Solid wood maintains structural integrity under all three. Screws hold longer, platforms don't compress and sag, and the frame doesn't swell or crumble. For a cat that uses its tower daily, that difference typically means years of additional useful life.
