Why is this called a "Big Cat" window seat -- what makes it sized differently? +
The platform dimensions are proportioned for cats over 12 pounds -- Maine Coons, Ragdolls, large domestic shorthairs. Standard window perches are built around an average 8-10 pound cat and feel cramped to a large breed who wants to sprawl. The 38-inch height also aligns with standard residential window sill heights so the top perch sits at window level naturally, without requiring a sill mount or suction cups.
Does this need to be anchored to the wall or window? +
No wall or window anchoring required. The free-standing base is wide enough and the overall weight distribution stable enough that it stands independently. This is one of the reasons I curated this over suction-cup style window perches -- those fail without warning and can injure cats. A solid free-standing structure near the window gives the same elevated window view with no attachment points to fail.
My cat loves the window but won't use cat furniture. Any tips? +
Position this directly in front of or beside their favorite window -- the window view is the draw, the furniture is just the delivery mechanism. Cats who ignore standalone cat trees will often take immediately to window-adjacent furniture because the destination (the view) is the reward. Place a familiar scent -- a worn t-shirt or their existing blanket -- on the lower platform initially, then remove it once they've claimed the structure as their own.
Can two cats use this at the same time? +
Yes -- the four distinct zones (two cradle perches, scratching post area, and top platform) give cats enough separation to coexist comfortably. In practice, one cat tends to claim the top window-facing perch and the other takes a lower zone. In multi-cat households I specifically curated this for its level variety -- it reduces the competition that happens when two cats want the same spot.

This is the best cat tower I've found for large cats. I now own 3 of these and they're perfect for all my cats, but I purchased this tower mainly for my 20 lb Maine Coon cat. I do make changes to it so that it works even better for the larger cats. I cut a small piece of wood and screw it to the bottom of the top platform so that it covers the opening. Carpet remnants or foam is used to 'fill' where the opening was, then on top of that I place a piece of carpet that covers the whole top platform. My cats can still climb up to the top platform from the sides but for older cats I place a stool/chair nearby. The tower was shipped 10 days after ordering and was here 4 days later. No problems with shipping and packaging. If I order another one, I'll have to ask the company if they'll custom make a solid top for me.
