 I hear that question all the time. The answer is always, "No, your cat is just being a cat." Absolutely, cats do things that would be weird if humans did them. Imagine sucking on your mother's sweater or chattering your teeth every time you see a bird out the window or hissing at a rustling paper bag. If you did that, you'd definitely be weird. But those are all normal cat behaviors.
A few years ago our feline behavior expert, Pam Johnson-Bennett, wrote a book called Think Like a Cat. And that's what I encourage all cat lovers to do. Of course, we can never totally know a cat's mind, but we can know a great deal and guess a lot more. But when you start to think about how your cat sees the world and imagine viewing things from her perspective, many of her behaviors begin to make a lot of sense. |
