Our guest columnist this week is Yin Yin, whose first book, Every Cat's Survival Guide to Living With a Neurotic Owner, is now available in Barnes and Noble stores nationwide. It can also be ordered online at http://search.barnesandnoble.com/booksearch/isbnInquiry.asp?userid=54F6BTNCD2&isbn=076073853X&itm=1.
For years I have been answering letters from concerned cats across the globe, who have had problems getting along with their people. Cats and kittens write in to ask me why their people behave the way they do, what they can do to retrain their people, and why they are not always getting exactly what they want. My answers are published in a column called "Dear Tabby," which runs regularly in the feline press.
Now I have collected these questions and answers into a book, which I hope will help all my fellow felines live better, happier lives among humans. People are mysterious creatures, but I do believe we can learn to live very nicely with them. In my book I reveal many secrets about humans: what motivates them, how to communicate with them, and, more important, how to train them to meet your needs quickly and efficiently.
It's been an interesting and gratifying experience working on a book. I particularly enjoyed using the mouse on the computer. And I must thank Beth, who has really helped me improve my spelling. Writing a book has also been a very dignified experience -- and I absolutely believe cats must always be dignified.
