 Color - Persians come in seven different color divisions: Solid, Silver and Golden, Shaded and Smoke, Tabby, Particolor, Bicolor and Himalayan. Their colors can range from pure snowy white to speckled brown and gray and everything in-between.
Eyes - Ranges from blue, to copper, to odd-eyed, to green for the Silvers and Goldens, to blue for the Himalayans. Eye color is dependent upon coat color. Appearance - Persians are one of the most dignified and beautiful cat breeds. They are large or medium sized cats with bodies that are of cobby type, broad and deep through the chest, equally massive across the shoulders and rump, with a well-rounded mid-section and level back. They have short, heavy boned legs with large paws. The Persian head is round and massive, with great breadth of skull and set on a short, thick neck. The nose is short, snub, and broad, with "break" centered between the large, round eyes, giving the impression of a flat face when viewed in profile. Ears are small and set far apart and low on the head. Personality - The Persian is the most placid and gentle cat breed in existence. Persians are very affectionate, quiet and usually meow in a soft voice. These cats will live peacefully with other cats, dogs, and children. They like to have their feet firmly planted and are not given to high jumping and climbing. Playful but never demanding, they love to pose and will drape themselves in a favorite window or chair, enhancing the decor in much the same way as a treasured painting. Grooming - The long flowing coat of the Persian requires a daily run-through with a metal comb to eliminate the potential drawbacks of tangles and hairballs. An occasional bath, attempted only after a complete comb-through and clipping of the nail tips, will keep the coat clean, healthy and beautiful.
