Elvis & Nicky Love Billy's Loft Cat Gym

Barb writes to us about her new Billy's Loft Cat Lounger,

I finally got around to sending some pix of Elvis (black & white tuxedo cat (probably 10 or 11 years old) and Nicky (white & orange, will be 2 in June). Just like kids, they played with the box before they played with the condo! Nicky loves to sleep in a kitty cup with a blanket, on the top shelf, at night. During the day, he loves to look out into the sunroom (when it's cold and the door is closed). He and Elvis seem to take turns sleeping on the top, which is their favorite place, although as Nicky is becoming more and more accustomed to his new home with us, they are beginning to sleep together. And they actually do scratch on the sisal.

Cat's Meow an Instant Hit

"I have to tell you, my girls love the tree! They're so excited to have it "back", they really missed getting up and fighting over who gets the top bed! My parents helped my put it together last night, and we were in stitches for hours! As soon as the base came out of the box, both cats started sharpening their claws and jumping on top, they played a little "king of the hill"...until we took the top part out of it's box. Then they started climbing straight up, even though we didn't have the beds on! They looked a bit confused, like, "hey, isn't there supposed to be more up here?". SO funny!! Then we moved the bottom into it's corner and put the top on (after getting the cat out of the house, just like in the directions!), and one hopped right to the top bed! My dad was trying to get the holes in the house and on the base lined up, and she was quite content to ride back and forth as dad lined things up. Mom and I were in stitches!! She was
giving dad a look and he was laughing.

Super Corner Superness!

"Yes, paying over $200 for what is basically a cat fortress is absurd, and I acknowledge that. Still, my new Russian Blue kitten just couldn't seem to stop climbing my bookshelves and knocking my DVDs all over the place, so a 5'5" carpeted kitten tower seemed like a good option.

The tower arrived in three pieces but was easy to assemble with no tools needed. It's a heavy sucker at 65lbs, but the weight is not distributed as evenly as I had hoped. The tower does wobble a little which initially freaked my cat out sufficiently as to avoid it, but she soon grew comfortable with the relatively minor instability.

Now, she can't get enough of it. The fact that the unit is built to slide into a corner is fantastic since it is a large unit and the less space it requires, the better. I put mine right up against the windows so she can sit on the top two perches and stare out onto the street below. When she isn't sun bathing on the top perches, she is sleeping in the covered third level or batting the tough leather and carpet ball below.

Aside from the slight wobble, the construction is excellent. The carpet pieces are heat-bonded to the wood frame, eliminating the need for dangerous staples or nails that a cat could dig out. Also, the two front bottom legs of the structure are wrapped tightly in a very thick, rough twine that Sasha loves tearing into. They have proven to be a great way to keep her from clawing the new couch.

In short, it may be expensive but I would dare say it is worth it. I cannot imagine why a cat wouldn't absolutely love this thing."

"The Bigfoot is an easily-assembled, 6-tiered cat tree. It works well with any decor (we got the all beige version). When we took it out of the box, our 3 cats were immediately spellbound. Once assembled, they jumped on and started climbing and playing - they did not even need an adjustment period to get used to this new large furniture piece (For example, when we got a new sofa, they sniffed timidly around it for a weeks or so, before they got comfortable with it). I am writing this review about 6 months after our purchase, and they are still all over it, using every part of the tree - scratching posts, batting toys, and platforms. One of our cats was very shy, and would hide in the bedroom a lot - since we got the BigFoot, he is out in the den all the time, playing with the other boys and being very social. Highly reccomended."
